Our stay here was absolutely wonderful! Our hosts were friendly and helpful and the location was perfectly amazing with the clean, open public beach right across the road and visible from our room. You should definitely eat breakfast in their restaurant-it was delicious and from scratch. (Bread and sausage included!) The room was rustic but clean. Bring your own drinking water. We would highly recommend this to others and would stay here again. (We stayed in a motel room with kitchen…)
My wife I were married 5 years ago across the street on the beach from here. When we were finished with our ceremony we went in and had ice cream. We absolutely fell in love with the place and the staff!!! Now we make as many trips as we can every yr to come visit!! Thank you Michelle and everyone else for being you!!! Didn’t stay at this place but stopped in, dined in, & enjoyed a some good pasties w/gravy for lunch! A cute, quaint little spot is right on lake Mi with sand dunes all around. Definitely recommend a visit! It’s been in the family for many yrs!!!
This place is wonderful. From the friendly owners and staff to the lodging and the views on the northern shore of Lake Michigan. A great place to disconnect and reconnect with nature and a peaceful simple time of the past. Enjoyed the sunset from our chairs on the beach, delicious ice cream, and bought a fantastic breakfast that included homemade Hungarian breakfast sausage and bread. We will definitely visit again. Affordable, nostalgic, and friendly. They even called me to let me know I left things behind in the room. Make sure you bring your own pillows, they give you the minimum . Our only complaint was we were excited to have the windows open to sleep to the sounds of the lake, instead you hear the traffic all night, but thats not their fault.
I'm one of the people who had passed by this location often, and always wondered what it would be like to stay here. I loved it! I will caution that the rooms are older, and do not have air conditioning or heating, but fan and space heater was provided, and a nice breeze was rolling in from the lake so it was still comfortable. The room was clean and cute, and I was surprised to see it come with a full kitchen and fridge, which made me wonder what a longer stay where I could cook would be like! The location is right across the road from a beautiful beach so you can just go have a full beach day from your front door. The breakfast was AMAZING, please get the homemade sausage. Bring cash!
We stopped in at 9pm for ice cream (an hour before closing), and had a wonderful experience. We were helped by Doug and had the best ice cream we have had in Michigan surrounded by beautiful shore scenery. Doug specifically went out of his way to make sure we left with an amazing experience and we had just that. Small town Americana vibes are being lived to the fullest on the shores of Lake Michigan at the Dune Shores Resort.
Loved our time there!! Clean, comfortable and friendly people around!! Breakfast was awesome!! Can't beat the beach and views!! Will definitely be coming back!
